The Manganese Health Research Program (MHRP) initiated by the International Manganese Institute (IMnI) in 2003 resulted in US government funding of over $5 million of research into the health effects and toxicology of manganese-based substances.

The MHRP produced 20 studies, over 150 published peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and presentations involving over 100 scientists worldwide. Findings were presented at the MHRP showcase conference –“New Discoveries-New Directions”, in June 2009.

Although the program came to an end in 2010, scientists involved continue to publish new findings, so enhancing the understanding of manganese toxicology. For complete information on the completed studies and publications click here
